The Challenge
TTI relied on spend-based emissions calculations, a method that proved highly inaccurate because it depended on financial data instead of actual manufacturing processes. The resulting estimates ranged from severe underestimation (-197%) to substantial overestimation (+135%). Moving to traditional process-based LCAs was viewed as impractical because it would require more than 100 hours of manual effort for 1,573 parts from 51 suppliers.
The Solution
Sluicebox’s Generative LCAs replaced spend-based calculations with precise process-based computations. The platform instantly mapped each manufacturing part number to the right emissions factors and computed emissions for all 1,573 parts, removing the speed, cost, and scalability barriers that typically limit process-based LCA work.
